What if it didn't have to feel like this?
There's a quieter path through whatever's been in the way — no pushing, no fixing, just room for what's already within you.
What is LENS?
A different kind of neurofeedback
LENS asks nothing of you. No screens to watch, nothing to learn, nothing to practice. You sit with your eyes closed while a signal fainter than a cell phone's briefly reflects your brain's own activity back to itself — a gentle reset, toward a more natural state. And you're never alone with a machine: beside you, the whole time, sits a psychotherapist of forty years. At your service.
Three decades, five continents
Dr. Len Ochs created the LENS in 1990. Today it's practiced in 47 countries across five continents. I've been offering it to my clients for 16 years.
Change both body and mind
The brain and body share one nervous system. When the brain reorganizes, the body tends to follow — and calm has a way of showing up in places you'd stopped looking for it.
Who does LENS help?
What are you feeling?
In life we wake and live each day, and the waking morning is a very informative time. What is your first conscious thought? Your first movement? Your first feeling? This is where the day — and your life — begins. What if you saw the light coming in through the window and noticed how comfortable you feel in that moment. When you turn to sit up, you have a sense of excitement for what's possible today. You know it's going to be a good day.
All are different and all are the same
In working with people, we can count on certain commonalities. But when we work with individuals, each is different from the other. This is where LENS comes to help. We design a specific protocol for your particular personality, gender, age, and condition.
It's you we want to help.
There is nothing wrong with you … REALLY!
Everything good and wonderful about you has never left. It's been covered with all kinds of errors.
That's where LENS comes in.
All forms of trauma
The Veterans Administration counts neurofeedback among its evidence-based care for veterans, including those carrying combat trauma.
You do not have to be a vet to know trauma in your life.
LENS can help.
Inside all along
There are so many emotions tied to this life, and we have our reasons for every one of them. So we seek help, climb mountains, jump out of airplanes — going outside ourselves for what has been inside all along. Some of what's in the way has stayed for years, decades, a lifetime.
Again, LENS can help.
About
I'm Jeffrey Davila — a licensed therapist for 40 years, and a LENS provider for 16. LENS is a gentle, well-established approach that asks nothing of you: no effort, nothing to learn, nothing to push through. You simply show up, and let what's already possible in you come forward.
Sessions are usually weekly, and they include texting between the two of us — which can also include a child's parents or another caretaker, depending on the situation. This is an active process, with one required text within 48 hours after LENS.
Contact
Curiosity is reason enough to reach out. There's nothing to prepare and nothing you need to know beforehand — a conversation is a fine place to start.
